Parents Shocked by Episcopal School of Dallas Staffer Arrested for Possession of Child Pornography

BREAKING: We are in receipt of a letter from ESD Dallas Head of School David L. Baad that details the arrest of ESD school staffer Jimmy Derrell Tippie for possession of child pornography.

We demand a full-scale investigation into the Episcopal School of Dallas's internal disciplinary actions. What did the ESD school know, and when did they know it?

Dear Members of The Episcopal School of Dallas Community,

The Grayson County Sheriff's Office notified us that Mr. Jimmy Derrell Tippie, one of our maintenance staff at Episcopal School of Dallas's Wolf Run Outdoor Education Center, was arrested on charges of possession of child pornography.

Mr. Tippie has been employed at the ESD Dallas's Wolf Run for 20 years and has had very limited interaction with any students, all of which was supervised by ESD teachers.

The Episcopal School of Dallas contends that Tippie "has had very limited interaction with any students, all of which was supervised by ESD teachers" -- for 20 years. How can the school say that with a straight face? Twenty years is a long time. And he was with teachers every time he came in contact with a student? That doesn't pass the smell test.

The Grayson County Sheriff's Office informed us that they do not believe the alleged conduct involved any students at the Episcopal School of Dallas. Likewise, we have never received a report concerning any inappropriate behavior by Mr. Tippie from anyone in our community, including ESD school students, parents, faculty, or staff.

Again -- how do we know that? How do we know the Episcopal School of Dallas didn't discover Tippie and his child porn 20 years ago and cover it up? Or 10 years ago? Or five years ago? Or even last year? How many students can one pedophile harm in just one year?

The letter continues:

Today is the first time we became aware of any investigation by law enforcement. All ESD employees are periodically background checked. His most recent check, conducted by ESD in January 2020, and all of the numerous prior checks, indicated nothing of concern. Twenty years of background checks -- but "nothing of concern"? Really? Has the Episcopal School of Dallas even had time to review two decades of background checks in the short time since the story broke?

Mr. Tippie has been placed on administrative leave, pending additional information provided by law enforcement. He is banned from all Episcopal School of Dallas property. We plan to cooperate fully with the authorities during the course of their investigation. The ESD school will share more details with you when we are able.

Does Tippie still receive a salary -- funds supplied by ESD school parents? How can the Episcopal School of Dallas patrol all its properties 24/7 for a pedophile? Oh -- and ESD Dallas will "cooperate fully with the authorities during the course of their investigation"? Well, we're glad that the ESD school has graciously agreed to follow the law and assist the police.

But again -- how do we know Episcopal School of Dallas won't stonewall the police investigation? The school has done it before. And the courts have already, in essence, granted them the legal standing to do so.

The safety and well-being of our entire ESD school community is our highest priority. Protecting our students is a sacred trust, and we will continue to do all that we can to keep them safe.

That statement is simply not accurate. It is also not credible.

We demand an investigation into the Episcopal School of Dallas immediately!
